The Milani Bella Eyes were released not long ago when I bought these. Shows you how behind I am with updating my blog. I only picked up 3 and now am kicking myself for not getting more! These are perfect for trying out fun colours eg red and orange, things that you wouldn’t catch yourself wearing normally! These eyeshadows can be used both wet and dry but so far I have only used them dry.
Picked up Bella Purple, Bella Teal and Bella Ivory. I wanted to try out purples and see if they were flattering for me. I used to buy mostly browns and slowly transitioning into getting more colours. I didn’t own any eyeshadow in this shade and this would be a great start to finding out if it would work for me. Blues are something I would never ever put on my face. My skin tone is warm-yellow and blues on my eyes just make me look sick. Teal is not a straight up blue but has a little complexity in it, so I thought, heck let’s just try it and if it doesn’t work… then it can go into cold storage haha. Ivory was gotten to be used a base/blending colour.
Bella Purple – It is a satin matte formula and looks like a darkened grape. I find the texture a little dry to the touch but pigmentation can be built up. Have been spoilt silly by all the luxury Japanese makeup that I have become very fussy haha. A primer would be good to help it to adhere to your lids. I find that the brush picks up a sheer veil of colour and primer really makes the colour pop better.
Bella Teal – This one is a metallic formula. It somewhat reminds me of a peacock due to its metallic look. It has just a little green in it so that it isn’t a straight up blue. Still not really able to work this colour.. hmm.. The colour payoff with one swipe is better with this one but still needs 2 swipes before you get the richness you see in the photo.
Bella Ivory – Ooo chalky white 😦 It is in the satin matte formula but why… so .. powdery? It is okay if I use it a a base because the other eyeshadows just blend over it. On hindsight, I should have gotten cappuccino instead.
In conclusion, I do like these eyeshadows, especially at the price point, but not really loving it to bits. They are a little dry and need a few swipes to get richer pigmentation. I am not complaining though, because it makes it easier for me to blend out the eyeshadow. They retail for USD4.49 each, so hey, why not grab more?
edit: I think I should try them with a wet brush.. soon.
